Sorry for not posting recently, have been swamped with work – hopefully this one makes up for my lack of posting! This stunning beach home, designed by Crosson Clarke Carnachan architects, sits on an impressive headland in the Bay of Islands, north of Auckland. The brief called for a spiritual refuge for the owners of the house and their guests. the dramatic isolation of the site offered unrestricted 360 degree sea views. I won’t say too much on the cutting edge design as the pictures say it all. “Rahimoana”, the homes name, means god over the sea, and thus reflects and embraces the views, the horizon and the sea with a delicate simplicity of form, structure and materials.
On a side note, this property and 2 other neighbouring homes, were listed for $69,500,000 in 2011.
